Peru Day 8: Llactapaya, Hidroelectric, Urubamba River, Aguas Caliente

After a nice night in our tents we woke up early again and headed up over a small(er) pass.  The jungle was hot and sweaty and we were going up and up and up.   We were amazed with the beauty of hiking up above the clouds.  The jungle was lush and green.

We saw our first hint of Machu Michu.  Over in the clouds of course.  We stopped at some ruins and learned more about the Inca culture and traditions.
We finally made it down to Hidroelectric and much to half the groups dismay the train was cancelled due to .... COVID!  So we all got to walk the lovely last three hours together.  But first a delicious lunch in an empty restaurant due to ... COVID.  When wipes and toilet paper are on the table you know your in Peru.  you just have to take them everywhere go.  The hammocks after lunch were dreamy.

Then three hours of hiking along the train tracks.  It was beautiful.  And we knew when we got to Aguas Caliente there would be a hot shower, a bed and a really good dinner.
