July 2022

Beautiful hike to Desolation Lake with Katie and Ang.  The lighting was amazing.  These girls are good for my soul.  Also hiked up to Eniss Peak a few times to get ready for the Grand Teton.

Abby had a summer challenge - each week was something different.  Learning to be detectives was great.  Darren got to dress and help in the primary.  Abby had a little surgery on her foot to get a wire out of her foot.  Ella had a great time at an iCup race with friends.  Celebrated Darrens birthday with a yummy dinner and dessert with friends.  Bike Camp was fun for all involved.

Final Days at Fallen Leaf Campground

This trip was a vacation for real!  Ella started to feel better by the end so she was able to get a ride or two in.  I was wiped out almost the entire time.  Tyler and Darren did some amazing biking through some burned out forest.  We did bike down to Lake Tahoe one day and play in the water.  The icecream after was cold as were we since we had just gotten in the Lake.  I suppose we will have to go back one day because I had so many things I would have loved to do but I was too tired and sick to do much.  BUT the time sitting around at the lake, relaxing, paddle boarding, and playing games with my kids was priceless.

We did have a bear come into our campsite one night.  I had been coughing so much I had opted to sleeping in the hammock next to our picnic table.  I had put some crushed empty gatorade bottles in a bag in a tote box so I could recycle them.  Well.... bears can smell very well. I was woken up in the night by a bear next to me throwing the box to try to get into it.  I was so grateful Darren heard the noise and woke up.  I slept in the truck after that.

Lake Tahoe Hike Day

One day in Lake Tahoe we hiked around a part of Lake Tahoe.  We started at DL Bliss State Park.  Hiking along the coast was beautiful.  We finished at Emerald Bay State Park.  We loved the dock we could jump off of.  It would have been fun to paddle out to Tea Island.

Lake Tahoe- Fallen Leaf Campground

We have wanted to go to Lake Tahoe for a while.  BUT getting a campsite on Lake Tahoe is tough!  We were so lucky that we opted for Fallen Leaf Lake, the campground was perfect.  We preferred the smaller, quieter Fallen Leaf Lake hands down.  Darren and Tyler did lots of mnt biking. Ella got Covid prior to coming, then Abby and I got it while we were there.  (Darren got it when we got home) The lake was crystal clear.  We loved paddle boarding and jumping from the sunken tree.  There was a fire burning close by so the first few days were very smokey.
