May 2016

May means warm weather mixed with some cold.  Ella invited friends over and they played in the rain until they were soaked.  Then came in and danced their little legs off until they were warm.  I learned to make yogurt.  so easy.  Glad I finally convinced myself to try it.

I tried to be a more involved mom by volunteering at Tylers 4th grade Rendevous Field day.  They learned about being mountain men.  Tyler had to catch a fish with his bare hands.  Ella and I got to go to the Museum of Curiosity with her class.  I do love seeing what my kids are doing and who they hang out with.  But I just dont know how to fit it in more.

One cold May day I made cinnamon rolls.  I wish I could make them every day but I know I would just eat them all.  So I dont.  But they kids made a cozy fort in the bottom of the linen closet.

Cousin Seth came to church with us a few times.  We bribed him with a yummy lunch after.  I loved the picture we took from out picnic table.  Mountains and barn.  homemade jam, bottled grape juice, yummy corn.  It was a lovely day.  And of course... a nice hail/snow storm a few days later.

Grandpa Seths Birthday- Memorial Day weekend

We had a really nice Memorial Day weekend.  Pat and Seth came up to the cabin with my family.  We explored around and found some fun spots.

Monday we headed over to the Heber Valley Railroad with cousins.  Grandpa loves trains so we gave him a ride on the train for his present.

Then we headed to a really fun bike park in Park City, Trailside.  Lots of fun things for kids of all ages.  It was a hot day so a watermelon got busted open and devoured at the end!

A weekend in May with no kids

Corie and Nolan took our kids for a nice weekend in May.  We worked on our basement, went on a nice bike ride in Park City. (flying dog) and worked some more in our basement.  The kids had a great time.  It was a bit hot but they got outside!  When we picked them up they fell asleep pretty quick in the car.  That means it was a good weekend right!?

Spring Projects

We spend most of our free time working and worrying about the basement.  After tiling one bathroom ourselves... and by ourselves... I mean mostly Darren... then we hired someone to do the other bathroom.  Thank goodness.  That was a good decision.

I pressure cooked A LOT of beans.  Pinto, Black, White and my favorite... Black Eyed Peas.  So easy and so cheap.  and like I said... so easy!

Darrens hard work on the fireplace is very evident.  The carpenter came in and started building the shelves and cupboards, but wait until all the color is added.  It will be beautiful.

Spring weather brings bike rides, climbing and running

We tried to do a bunch of outdoor climbing this spring and summer.  Red Rocks next to our house is easy to get to, easy to climb, and beautiful.  We climbed with our carpool friends the Shields.  Its great motivation for my kids to climb with friends.

Tyler went on a few rides with Darren and I.  He loves the biking down hill a lot more then biking up to the top!  Ella and Tyler also did a great job in their school Jog-a-thon.  I hope they can get involved in track in Junior High and High School.

We also had some fun Mid Week Mountain bike races this Spring and summer.  The ones in Draper are super fun since they are so close.  Ella has her blue jersey on next to the megaphone.  Abby and Marshall had a good time on their striders.  Tyler did the beginner course and actually raced hard this year.  And then... the best part... just bike on home down the Porter Rockwell trail!

Photos of my parents

I found these pictures on my computer the other day from a project we did for our parents several years back.  So fun to look through these and see how similar my siblings and nieces and nephews look to my parents.  And fun to see my parents so young!
