Peru Day 2: Cusco- Plaza de Armas, Sacsyhuman, San Pedro plaza

On Friday we woke up early to take the flight from Lima to Cusco.  We didn't even see anything in Lima which was fine with us.  We had a lovely AirBnB in Cusco.  We went straight to San Pedro market for some local cuisine.  Amber wished she hadn't tried that ceviche the whole trip.  Her stomach was sick.  Darren and I got rice, eggs, potatoes and avocado.  Delicious.

Then we set out to walk the town.  We went to Sacsyhuman and saw the ruins.  The zig zag wall was my favorite.  The area was dedicated to the Lightning God so lots of zig zags.  Some of the stones were massive.  We learned how they fit them together and made exact fits.
After we saw the Blanco Christo we headed back into town.  We saw the Plaza de Armas and found some delicious popsicles.

We found the 11 cornered stone and a delicious restaurant that we went back to many times.  Jacks.  I will always remember the Banana Foster pancakes with caramel syrup and the Heuvo Rancheros.  After dinner we had to find cake for Coreys Birthday.

Some folks headed in for the night.  Some of us went walking and loved the city all lit up.

Peru: Lima Day 1

We weren't sure if we were really going to be going on this trip until we actually landed in Cusco.  There was crazyness every single step of the way.  We bought tickets from Priceline for 216$ RT to Lima.  They changed our flights a dozen times.  Even THE day we were to fly out they cancelled one of our flights.  I spent 7 hours on the phone with Brittany trying to get tickets again.  But after Darren had finished vacuuming we were finally off.
A red eye to Atlanta meant trying to sleep a little at the airport.  Then when we finally went to board they told Darren and I we had to have a Negative Covid Test... which we thought we didn't have to do since we were vaccinated.  We were able to ...... a document and get on the plane.

In Peru airports you have to wear a shield and one or two masks.  Everywhere!  We were happy to get to our resting spot and get some pizza before we slept for a few hours.

May 2021

There aren't many pictures in this post because the beginning of May was Costa Rica and the last of May was Peru.  Those have their own post . But here are a few in between pictures we managed to take.

I went to the knee doctor who said I have Osteoarthritis.  I need to eat health and take weight off my knee. Lots of biking here.  The season is in full swing.    I try to get in some biking but my kids leave me in the dust.  Hiking is great for me because I can talk while I hike!

Abby got her hair chopped off one morning when I couldn't brush it anymore.  School finished up and we had a few days of partying around.  Also I got to nominate a Female Coach of the Year.  Stefani was well deserving.  Hayden is amazing also!

City of Rocks 2021

We had a great trip this year.  I had two goals.  Climb myself and help Tyler and Isaac learn to lead climb. Both of those got done.  I got to do Jackson's Thumb and basically climbed it twice since it started raining and we had to start coming down.  So with all the pitches I got in about 6 pitches.  I loved it all.
Then on our last day I finally got Isaac and Tyler to lead.  Slab is scary stuff.  We loved the Egg Wall in CastleRock.
The Practice Wall was fun.  Bath Rock was a success.  Finding Geowatts was a total adventure.

Our camp site was perfect for everyone.

Lots of love for Castle Rock.  So glad we could do Warrior Rock.

The kids made it to Treasure Rock.
