All things Tyler in May

 Tyler's May was so packed.  I am not sure how he stayed awake for it all.  First, getting his white coat.  He finished the Pre Med Pathway with a great group of kids.  They have been in classes together for 4 years.  

Always a kid at heart.  He tried on his graduation robe and had to get out his light sabor so he could be a Star Wars Jedi.  

I am so grateful Tyler had the experience to be an SBO his senior year.  He worked with great people.  He served and met so many more friends.  It was sad and tender and amazing to attend the goodbye assembly.  Tears were shed as they all knew that this time in their lives was over.  

We also got to attend Senior night where those seniors who were getting special awards were honored.  He was awarded for a Charger Medallion, National Honors Society, SBO- Activities Officer, and Seal of Biliteracy- Spanish.  

Tyler also graduated from Seminary.  He played the Orgon for the graduation.  What a great group of youth he finished with.  

After the Graduation at the U of U, we had pizza at our house.  Then the Bishop and Tony Horsley came over so Tyler could get the Melchizedek Priesthood.

City of Rocks 2024

 

Tyler brought a camera and took some fun shots.  

I took Tyler and Ella up Steinfells Dome finally.  We moved quick since it was easy and we had good weather.  I love this place.  Its heavenly. 

We had a fun campsite at Twin Sisters.  We spent a day climbing in City and then a day climbing at Castlerock.  So many kids lead climbs.  I was so proud.  Lots of climbing and confidence as they get older.  

Fun to go to the top of Elephant Rock.  

I even made everyone go on a treasure hunt with me to find some Gypsum Rocks.  

Mesa Verde 2024

Ella wanted to race again at Mesa Verde with her girl team.  Lauren, Emma and Brooklyn.  They got second place so maybe next year they will triumph.  Darren and Tyler also rode.  Abby got in a bike race and took second place.  So fun to see her loving biking.  Some people stayed up to see the northern lights.  

After the race, we headed to Soldier Hollow to see the Olympic trial.  Kate Courtney and Haley Batten,  Ella got an autograph that made her day.  A lovely mothers day weekend.  

Capital Reef Biking Tour- Jones and Co

 For Ang's birthday, we wanted to do something fun but something that her bummed ankle could handle.  A 60-mile bike tour in Cathedral Valley was just the thing.   We outfitted our bikes which was half the fun with colorful duct tape and cut up tarps.  Everything was in place except for the weather.  Rain and wind were on the forecast and that makes biking tricky.    We had to alter our plans last minute and one of us had to drive the truck along the route.  We switched off every 10 miles.  We ended up doing about 25 miles and then gave up because the wind was just too intense.  We had planned to camp out on the loop but opted to try to find a hotel instead.  We had a big yummy dinner and tried to find a reasonably priced hotel.  We gave up on that idea too and found a free camping spot off the road.  

The next day we had a lovely breakfast and headed out on two hikes.  We explored the Grand Wash from one direction then drove around to Cassidy Arch.  One day I will have to go back and do that canyoneering route.  We were grateful to not be biking in the rain and wind.  The time together is priceless.
