Nothing better than a girls' trip to celebrate my birthday. We got into Capital Reef just before dark and made it up to Hickman Bridge. It is so fun to talk and be together. We missed Stacie on this one. We didn't camp since it gets dark at 6:00. We enjoyed dinner and a nice hot tub before bed.
We had to choose an adventure that we could complete during daylight hours. Windgate Wonder was lovely. The approach was beautiful along the river and then climbing up to the top of the red rock. As we started to descend, we found some swimmers. We took an extra hour and a half to get around the water, but that would cost us later. Almost out of the slot canyon, we found more water. We had to strip down and walk across, and were so grateful it wasn't a swimmer. We made it out of the canyon by dark. We had to cross an icy river over and over in the dark to get back to our car. LOVED IT!
