Costa Rica Day #3 Zip-lining and Rappelling

Sunday May 2nd, Parque Nacional Volcano Arenal, Zip line Canyoneering, Pure Trek Canyoning and ziplining 6-7 hours, 824$ per family

What a view we have from our Hotel. The volcano is literally right there. After another delicious breakfast from our hotel we were ready to go. Pure Trek picked us up from our hotel, wearing clothes to zip line in. We were all so excited.  Abby and Gwen had to go together since they didn't weigh much. A few times Laird and Ella had to go together so they would make it all the way to the end.

After zip lining through the jungle over and over again... they took us back to their headquarters for a yummy lunch. Tyler ate two whole plates! Then we changed into clothes that would get wet. As we arrived at the waterfall rappel it started to rain. No problem since we were in a rainforest and we were going to get soaked anyway. I was glad all of us knew how to rappel so the experience was easy and fun.

We were wet and cold when were were all done. Lots of layers to try to get everyone unfrozen.  We found some dinner, went shopping for groceries and had to get more ice cream to eat in the park.

We planned to go to bed but night swimming was in order.  Why not??!!

Costa Rica Day #2 Mistico. Waterfall and El Salto Rope Swing

On Saturday we started with a lovely hike through Mistico Park.  The kids were just running through it and not drinking it all in.  So Brittany had the great idea to have a photo contest.  Who ever took the best picture got a prize.  The kids took so many pictures I put the best ones at the bottom of this post.  58$ per family, 3.2 km, 2.5 hours, closed toes shoes are required.  8:00 AM

After the Park we went to La Fortuna Waterfall.  It was lovely.  We got to swim by the waterfall and play in the water.  Tyler was so excited to try Coconut water and eat the flesh.  My kids loved it.  15 minutes hike down 480 Steps, an hour swimming, 30-40 minutes up, $60 family, hours are 8-4.  The latest you can enter the park is 4. Cold water, Go down to the left for calmer water for younger kids.  Dont wear flip flops to hike all the stairs, bring shoes you can strap on and walk in the water.

After having a yummy lunch we went to the El Salto Rope Swing.  I could have stayed here for along time but some people were tried.  And ... it wasn't our kind of crowd with our kids.  Its a free spot with a great rope swing into a pool of water.  Never leave anything in the car, change at hotel, no bathrooms, brings snacks, rope swing at top then down river to a second pool

We got to swim in our fun pool then cleaned up and went downtown for dinner.  The food was delicious and the cool evening was lovely.  Brittany is the best at ordering fun drinks.  Keeping kids hydrated was fun.  We had some energy left for a few games at our hotel.
