A well known hike in the area is called the WURL. It means you hike the ridge line of Big Cottonwood Canyon and then back down the Little Cottonwood Canyon ridge line. Darren and friend hiked a small portion of the trail. It was steep and crazy. Oh... and a storm blew in also. Darren said he doesn't remember the last time he was so cold. A normal person does the WIRL in about 30-36 hours. The fastest known time is about 14-15 hours.

Horsetail Falls Trail- Alpine Utah
With kids in School (for just a few days) some moms from the neighborhood took off hiking. We ventured to Horsetail Falls in Alpine. I had never heard of it so I was so glad to go. It was over 5 miles. Since I didn't plan it, I didn't do the work before hand to find and gps out the trail. So we made it to a lovely water area but missed the waterfall. It was a half mile below us. But we jumped in this little spot and cooled off. Jeana lost a sock somewhere but made a sock out of two masks. The leaves were perfect.

Mnt Bike Race Price Utah
Tyler and Ella had their second Mnt bike Race in Price. It was dusty and then even more dusty. They both did great and felt good about the race. We had a hotel so some of played in the pool in the heat of the day. Our Rupp cousins were there to hang out with. These kids have worked hard and I am grateful to see them push hard. Darren has been a great personal coach since he is so knowledgeable.

Price/Moab Weekend - Larkins/Larrabees
We ran away for the weekend to Moab with our friends. The dads woke up early and did the Whole Enchilada. I was so surprised how quickly they did it. Most of the kids and I went to do Bow and Arrow Canyon. It was pretty hot by the time we finished. We stopped and jumped in the river to cool off.
After our morning adventure everyone was tired and hot so we enjoyed a cool relaxing afternoon at the pool. Adults headed to dinner. The next day we had a lovely church service in the La Sal mountains. Some of my favorite memories will be these special services in our own private settings. Some of us went for a hike with ropes to the Pleisadas Canyon. The water was so low we didn't need wetsuits which was perfect. It was lovely.
On Monday we cleaned up and headed to Price to preside the bike race course. Oh so dusty and hot. But we made it back so we could get some rest and get to school the next day.

Eagle Court of Honor
Tyler earned his Eagle months ago but because of COVID we hadn't been able to gather together. This was a such a special gathering because these boys have been working towards this goal for 4 years together. There are six of them total but only 4 were able to get it right now. So many memories and campouts. Corey Larrabee was an amazing leader to all of them. They all gave him their mentor pin. Grandpa Balls gave a neat speech. We watched a short video of their accomplishments with photos going back to cub scouts. Having a live Eagle was so neat.
